Just like that, the wonderful cool weather of fall has blown in. It’s pumpkin spice season and there is a crisp smell of fallen leaves in the air. It’s time for cocoa, comforting soups, fires in the fireplace, and snuggling under blankets with a good movie or book.
It’s no secret that fall is my favorite time of year.
With school starting and the kiddos needing more of my time, I haven’t been able to dive into creative writing projects as much as I would like, and that makes me sad. There’s something magical that happens when the right words fall in the right spots and a story comes to life.
A few months ago, I’d taken the ideas for the current story I’m working to finish and did some fun worldbuilding work with them. Then, I didn’t go back to work on it. Life got in the way. The things that needed to be finished now always came before the things that needed to be finished later, and the story is something that needed to be finished later – and that’s a problem.
The day is soon coming where that story needs to be done now, and it’s not something that I can whip out over a long weekend. Bring on the cocoa and dedicating time to working on my pet creative project!
Yesterday, I gave myself time to do just that, and it was wonderful. I’d been putting it off so long that the words were eager to spilled out. With luck those words will read just as good today as they felt writing yesterday. I look forward to diving in again today and watching the story unfold.
Hi everyone! Jodi here. I’ve been enjoying writing these little Friday tidbits for the past while and sharing my thoughts on life, the universe, and everything. But, like all good things, it’s time for a change. At the end of October, these Friday notes will shift exclusively to my newsletter and this blog will be dedicated to weekly book and movie reviews and the occasional important announcement.
